Bloodstone, also known as Heliotrope, is a cryptocrystalline mixture of quartz that occurs mostly as jasper or sometimes as chalcedony. Bloodstone is commonly opaque green jasper with red inclusions of hematite. The red inclusions may resemble spots of blood, hence the name bloodstone.
