Agate is a variety of banded chalcedony that is formed by layers of quartz. Dendritic Agate, also known as Tree agate, gets its name from a Greek word meaning tree-like. These Agates are usually colorless, white, or gray, and have inclusions of iron or manganese, called dendrites which give the appearance of trees and ferns.
