Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral belonging to the halides class of minerals. It occurs in hydrothermal veins, often in association with minerals such as Quartz, Calcite and Barite. Fluorite is well known and prized for its glassy luster and variety of colors. This is the reason it has the reputation as "The Most Colorful Mineral in the World".
