Pyrite, also known as “Fool’s Gold", is the glittering rock notoriously mistaken by naïve prospectors as real gold. Pyrite is lighter in color than Gold and is harder and more brittle. Pyrite forms interesting natural structures, including nearly perfect cubes and octahedrons. Pyrite has a chemical composition of iron disulfide and is the most common sulfide.
