Origin: Ontario
Just North of Lake Superior, the Thunder Bay District of Ontario is famous for its Hematite capped Amethyst crystals. Thunder Bay Amethyst has been known since the 19th century, and it occurs in all shades of purple from pale to deep, from warm to cool hues and once in a while phantoms can also be found within the crystals. Sometimes these Amethyst crystals have been referred to as "Super Seven" or "Aura Lite 23".
Approximate size and weight:
Small: 2-3" (60-90 grams)
Medium: 3-4" (135-185 grams)
Large: 3.75-4.25" (225-320 grams)
X-Large: 4.25-5" (450-565 grams)
