PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Azurite is known for its striking blue color, which ranges from pale to deep blue or greenish-blue. Its name stems from its shade of blue, known as azure blue, and was used as a pigment in painting and decorative purposes for centuries–most famously in the medieval and Renaissance periods. As a copper carbonate hydroxide, it is often found alongside malachite as both are secondary minerals in copper deposits and form as a result of weathering and oxidation of copper ore.
