Dumortierite is a rare fibrous aluminum boro-silicate mineral that crystallizes in the orthorhombic system forming fibrous inclusions of slender prismatic crystals. This crystal was discovered in 1881 in Chaponost, France by F. Gonnard, and was named after the famous French paleontologist E. Dumortier.
