Snowflake Obsidian is a type of Obsidian that gets its grey spots that resemble snowflakes from inclusions of the white mineral, Cristobalite. It is found in North and South America, as well as small localities in Africa and Asia. Obsidian is the result of molten lava rock cooling rapidly, becoming volcanic glass and has been around ever since the prehistoric times. Because of its ability to make strong sharp edges, it’s been used by Native Americans and Primitive people to make spear points, arrowheads, as well as some other cutting tools.
