Sunstone belongs to the feldspar mineral group and exhibits a phenomenon called “aventurescence”, a shimmering or sparkling effect caused by light reflecting off microscopic mineral inclusions within the stone. The most common color of sunstone is a golden to orange-brown hue, but it can also occur in shades of red, green, and blue.
